Different types of thermometers include Surface magnet thermometer and bimetal thermometer.
Bimetal or dial thermometer is inexpensive, durable, and
recalibratable. A few are designed to be used in the ovens and some are
not, however all the bimetal thermometers work on the same fundamental technology of measuring temperature.
Metal
expands or contracts if heated or cooled. Different kinds of metals
expand or contract with different rates. The sensors of Bimetal thermometer
are produced of two diverse metals bonded collectively. When heated,
this set will bend as one metal is increasing quicker than the other.
A
bimetal band can be cut in the coil shape, just like mainspring of the
clock. With this shape, this coil may wind or unwind when the
temperature has any changes. In case one end of the coil is seized so
that this cannot move, its other end can be free for moving. The pointer
is connected with the free end, as well as the temperature records on
its dial underneath the pointer. This scale is regulated to the bimetal
coils. Bimetal coils differ in the length from only more than one inch
to equal to two inches.
Bimetal Thermometer is easy-to-use,
recalibratable, and no batteries needed. It is a cost-effective option
of digital thermometers. This thermometer needs to be put in the top of a
bimetal coil. And fine quality bimetal thermometer has a dimple on its stem, which anchors its coil and shows how far it needs to be inserted to take a precise reading.
